Two CHS students, Eli McGuire and Haley Fincher, both freshmen, competed as a team called The Whisk Takers, in the Georgia Department of Education's first ever virtual Student Chef Competition. There were 3 rounds of competition: first was a series of activities that culminated in creating a recipe that meets federal school lunch standards and preparing that recipe for a group to taste test. The second round, if the initial score was high enough, required a video submission detailing the dish and what it took to create it. In the third round, DOE chefs prepared the meal and conducted their own taste test. After the 3 rounds of competition, Eli and Haley placed 2nd in the state for their recipe, Honey Garlic Chicken Stir Fry. In addition to their recipe being featured in school lunchrooms around the state, they are each eligible to receive an $8.000 scholarship to Sullivan University in Louisville, KY. Congratulations to Eli and Haley!
